Blue Mountains NILS®
NO INTEREST LOAN SCHEME®
NILS® was introduced to the Blue Mountains by Winmalee Neighbourhood Centre in 1998.
Funding for the service has been generously provided by The Mercy Foundation, The Ian Potter Foundation, Blue Mountains City Council, Sydney Water.
The aim of the Mid Mountains No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS)® is to provide no interest loans to people on low incomes living in the Mid Mountains post code area including; 2778, 2779,2782, 2783 & 2784.
These Loans are available to assist residents where no viable alternative exists. We lend up to $800 per household to purchase essential items like fridges, washing machines, eye-glasses, medical equipment and/or for other worthwhile purposes including repairs, and other 'one off' and/or unexpected expenses.
Loans are not provided for emergency relief or everyday living expenses such as food, electricity, phone or rent.
Repayment plans are tailored to suit individual circumstances and are usually repaid via direct debit from your Centrelink payments over a twelve to eighteen month period.
Are You Eligible for A No Interest Loan?
If you can you answer YES to the following questions...
2783 or 2784 postcode areas for at least the past six months?
Then you are eligible to apply for a loan.
Being eligible to apply does not automatically mean you will receive a No Interest Loan. All loans are individually assessed confidentially and on merit within the constraints of the available funding.
Community Money
The funds to provide for these loans comes from the community and prompt and complete repayment enables the providers to re-lend the money to other needy members of the community. If you are experiencing difficulty repaying your loan contact your NILS® lender as soon as possible.
